DNYT 2025/2026 Productions
We can’t believe it is already Spring time, and things are really springing into action at Discarded Nut Youth Theatre! We have four brilliant shows coming up, plus an exciting opportunity to be part of our annual Show in a Week - there really is something for everyone at The Nutshell, and we would love for you to join us, either in the audience or by joining in!
First up, on Saturday 14th June, our younger acting group (Year 4-Year 8) performs their production of The Twits. The Twits are so ghastly and evil that they even keep Muggle-Wump the monkey and his family captive in their garden. But not for much longer! The monkeys are planning to trick the terrible Twits so that they can escape and put a stop to the frightful pair once and for all!
We then have two weekends (Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd June and Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th June) of brilliant performances from our younger musical groups, featuring the Peanuts (Year R-3) and the Coconuts (Year 4-8). Their production this year is Beauty and the Beast Jr, a fantastic musical with catchy songs, brilliant dances and a particularly scary moment with our youngest members turning into the wild wolves!
A couple of weeks later, running from Thursday 10th to Saturday 12th July, we have our older acting group performing their version of George Orwell’s classic dystopian novel Animal Farm. Exploring the timeless themes of power, revolution and corruption, this powerful piece of theatre also has an original score, written by one of our actors Gabe Elkins-Payne. This will certainly be a thought-provoking and chilling exploration of a classic text.
And finally, from Thursday 17th to Saturday 19th July, we have our older musicals group with their production of Urinetown - a comedic musical satire of the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, bureaucracy, corporate mismanagement, municipal politics and musical theatre itself! As hilarious as it is satirical, and accompanied by a live band, Urinetown is filled with huge characters, catchy songs and magnificent performances from the entire cast.
To end the year, we have our fantastic Show in a Week which runs from Monday 28th July to Friday 1st August, open to all students in Year R to Year 8. Join us for a thrilling week of acting, imagination, and magical mayhem as we transform Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland into a bold and brave contemporary performance. Tumble down the rabbit hole with Alice as she meets talking animals, mischievous tricksters, bloodthirsty game-players and vanishing cats in a world where nothing is quite as it seems! You can find the application form below.
Our applications are open for DNYT 25/26, so please do fill out the form below and join us for our productions next year…which will be announced soon!
